Ras Al Khaimah is the adventure capital of the UAE. Located in the country’s northwestern part, this incredible Emirate features dramatic mountains, a stunning coastline, historical sites, luxurious resorts, and many unforgettable activities.
Whether you are visiting from abroad or another Emirate, a Ras Al Khaimah itinerary deserves at least three days. You can always add more time to enjoy the relaxing resorts and beaches.
Based in the Hajar Mountains, Ras Al Khaimah offers many opportunities to go hiking and explore nature, unique to this part of the UAE. The surrounding desert also benefits Ras Al Khaimah, allowing visitors to explore infinity terracotta dunes.
This is what makes Ras Al Khaimah so unique and special. It offers a diverse range of landscapes and experiences. With this in mind, we’ve created the ultimate three-day itinerary to explore Ras Al Khaimah.
Day 1 Arriving In Ras Al Khaimah Itinerary - Adventure
Morning
Start the day as you mean to go on with one of the most adventurous activities in the Emirate, the Jebel Jais zipline. It’s the longest zipline in the world and soars above rugged mountains. It’s also worth doing the Jais Sledder, the UAE’s version of a mountain coaster.
These activities are super fun, adventurous, and outdoors. They’re an exhilarating experience that cannot be missed on any Ras Al Khaimah itinerary.
Afternoon
Spend the rest of the afternoon taking in the Jebel Jais views at a more relaxed pace. Then, enjoy lunch at the famous 1484 by Puro Cafe restaurant, the highest cafe restaurant in the country.
The views from the top are incredible, and the menu has something for everyone. Enjoy pizzas, steak and fries, or a 1484 burger special if you build up an appetite after a morning of adventure. There are also many lighter options, such as burrata, salads, and soup.
Evening
Spend the evening at one of Ras Al Khaimah’s incredible hotels. If you prefer to stay close to the city, choose Hilton Garden Inn, or for an island experience, the Hamptons by Hilton Marjan Island is perfect.
Day 2 Ras Al Khaimah Itinerary - History & Culture
Morning
Ras Al Khaimah has a long history of pearl cultivation, and the Suwaidi Pearl Farm has perfectly preserved this tradition. The tour is often a highlight for many tourists visiting Ras Al Khaimah.
Set off on a traditional pearl-diving boat and discover the UAE’s rich pearl-diving heritage against the backdrop of the Al Hajar mountains.
Spot turtles as you sail to the floating pearl farm, pick your pearls from oysters and learn about the pearl trade from times gone by.
Afternoon
It’s always good to discover the local food, and Yansoon Restaurant is the ideal spot to experience Emirati cuisine. The restaurant also serves many recognisable Lebanese dishes. From kibbeh to falafel and sambousek to mana-eesh, there are plenty of dishes to try to suit every palette.
Once you’ve filled your tummy, head on to the next activity for the day at Al Jazirat Al Hamra Village. This village was abandoned in the 1960s, and it feels like you are stepping back in time. Although the town is in disrepair, it is still an incredibly well-preserved piece of history.
You can find an old mosque, souk, and various residences. It’s best to visit late afternoon when it’s not too hot.
Evening
Finish your day with a stroll along the Corniche at sunset, taking in the views over the water and mangroves. You can choose a dinner spot with a view in many restaurants and cafes.
Day 3 Ras Al Khaimah Itinerary
Morning
On the last day, after breakfast, head to Al Marjan Island to explore the man-made archipelago of four incredible islands. This impressive spot stretches 4.5 km to the sea and is home to many luxury hotels, resorts, restaurants, cafes, and amenities.
Take a dip in the beautiful, crystal-clear waters at Marjan Island Beach and soak in the stunning surroundings.
Afternoon
Before departing, grab a coffee and lunch at MÖCA Lobby Lounge after the beach.
If you plan to stay longer in Ras Al Khaimah, head out on a desert evening tour to check out the incredible dunes and experience dune bashing, camel riding, bedouin culture, and a camp dinner.
Getting To Ras Al Khaimah
Ras Al Khaimah is accessible by road, just 1.5 hours (about 100 km) from Dubai International Airport via the E311 highway. While most visitors fly into Dubai or Abu Dhabi and drive, Ras Al Khaimah International Airport offers some direct routes to cities like Cairo, Jeddah, Delhi, and Lahore.
